OpenCms WebDAV support

Accessing OpenCms resources of the virtual file system is now much easier using the WebDAV protocol. Developers can use their preferred development environment to program JSPs or other functionalities, and content editors are able to use external editors to edit HTML pages.

Using Eclipse for development

Java developers can use Eclipse with the WebDAV plugin to synchronize JSPs and other resources with the OpenCms virtual file system.

All benefits of their preferred IDE like syntax highlighting or code completion are available, and changes can be immediately uploaded to OpenCms or downloaded from OpenCms.

Special wrappers for path translation

The OpenCms WebDAV interface allows editing of properties and HTML page elements by using special wrappers. Properties are wrapped as propertty files containing key/value pairs to edit, HTML pages as folders containing a virtual file for each editable content element.

With these wrappers, content editors are able to use their preferred editor, e.g. Macromedia Dreamweaver, to edit OpenCms contents.
